About Friends of The Warrenton Cemetery
On April 12th 2017, the Warrenton Cemetery was vandalized. The crime left nearly 100 memorials toppled, broken, and destroyed. The Fauquier Historical Society took the responsibility to raise funds and awareness from concerned citizens to repair the damaged stones. After three months of fundraising, on July 12th 2017 the Friends of the Warrenton Cemetery officially convened to create a new 501(c)3 non-profit to carry the torch. The intention of the non-profit is to educate the community about the rich history within the gates of the Warrenton Cemetery, and continue appropriate care for tombstones. The foundation intends to fundraise and facilitate the restoration of the cemetery, continuing to keep focus on this vital historic asset in the community.
Our MISSION is to restore and preserve the Warrenton Cemetery by raising community awareness and involvement through fundraising, educating and volunteer programing for the benefit of current and future generations.
Our VISION is to maintain the integrity and sanctity of the Warrenton Cemetery and to improve and protect its historic impact to educate the citizens of Warrenton and its visitors.
